How do you choose a tutor for my child?
You tell us the subject, level and exam board. We offer the lesson to the tutors on our register whose subjects, levels and availability match, and the first to accept takes it. No information identifying your child is shared before a tutor is allocated. If it's not the right fit, ask us to change tutor at any time, for any reason, at no charge.
Are lessons online or in person?
Online only, on Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet. We send the joining link. Tutors are not permitted to meet students in person, which is part of how we keep every lesson inside our safeguarding framework.
How are tutors checked?
Every tutor passes six checks before their first lesson: photographic ID and address, verified GCSE, A-Level and university qualifications, a video interview, an assessed demonstration lesson, two references, and an enhanced DBS check registered with the Update Service so we can re-check at any time. A tutor whose vetting is incomplete does not teach.
What does a lesson cost?
£30 an hour for Years 1 to 6, £35 for Key Stage 3, GCSE and IGCSE, and £45 for A-Level. Small-group lessons are £15 per student, with a maximum of five in a group. There are no registration, matching or exit fees, and we're not VAT-registered, so the price shown is the price you pay.
What if we need to cancel a lesson?
Cancel or move a lesson free with at least 24 hours' notice. With less notice, or if the student doesn't turn up, the lesson is charged, because the tutor has planned for and reserved that hour. We waive that for genuine illness, bereavement or emergency. If the tutor cancels, you choose a free reschedule or a full refund.
Is there a minimum term?
No. Book a single lesson or a standing weekly slot, and end regular tuition whenever you like, with no notice period and no exit fee. Prepaid lessons you haven't used are refunded within 14 days. Blocks bought in advance stay valid for 12 months.
What do we need at home?
A device with a camera, microphone and speakers, a reliable connection, and a quiet shared space. We recommend a kitchen or living room over a bedroom, with the door open where practical. For students under 18, a responsible adult needs to be in the house for the whole lesson.
Can the tutor message my child between lessons?
No. All contact with the student happens inside the lesson, on the video platform. Tutors may email you, the parent, about timings, materials and progress, and nothing else. If a tutor ever suggests anything outside that, tell us straight away.
Do you guarantee grades?
No, and tutors are contractually forbidden from promising one. Results depend on the student's work between lessons, their school, and the day of the exam. What we do promise is tuition delivered with care and skill, mapped to the right specification, with written feedback after every lesson so you can see progress for yourself.
How do I pay?
In advance, by card, through Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Because you're booking at a distance you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the day after the booking is confirmed. If lessons start inside those 14 days at your request, you pay only for what's been delivered.
